Fame!

If you go here, and then here, you will be able to watch a report that appeared on the BBC's Newsnight Review, lasting all of nine minutes and three seconds, about contemporary poetry, which makes lengthy reference to an anthology in which I am to be published. Nobody mentions me by name, and they don't read any poems, but it's a step in the right direction.

Dear Trunt. About these poems: it didn't exactly require much code-cracking to see through the vicious personal & professional slanders you cowardlily concealed behind the initials 'M.S.' and 'T.M.' - Suffice to say that Martin Stannard and Toril Moi are currently taking legal advice and would advise you to do likewise...

I meant it to be Martin Scorsese and Timothy McVeigh, Anonymous (ah, my brave Anonymous!)

(from) THE GROUP

J.W., pale, untonsured,
Is the boringest monk and glossator
Among them - the pompousest too
(He spoke Russian, Greek and Swahili
Before he had started to shave).

He's 'completed a critical study'
(Hold the press! This is going to be big!)
Which will show them all how to do it,
Coming soon to an arts tri-quarterly
Near you (or a sixth-form rag).

by
Martin Scorsese (Buscas en Roma a Roma, ¡oh peregrino!)

Thank you. It's difficult to get tone into toneless e-mail, but really, no irony, I'm touched.

But don't you have to scan 'tri-quarterly' as 'tri-quartérly' rather than 'tri-quárterly' in your version?

Hmmm, that is a bit wobbly, isn't it. Oh well. Congrats on the publication anyway. Looks like a decent little anthology.
